Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi strongly condemned Pakistan’s role in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22. Speaking at a public rally in Parbhani, Maharashtra, on Sunday, Owaisi slammed Pakistan for its claims of being a nuclear power while supporting terrorism across borders. He stated, “Pakistan always talks about being a nuclear power; they need to remember that if they enter a country and kill innocent people, that country will not sit quietly. No matter the government, by killing our people on our land, and targeting them based on religion, what ‘deen’ are you talking about?… You have acted like ISIS.”

The terror attack targeted tourists near Baisaran Meadow in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people, including one Nepalese national. The incident, one of the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama attack, has sparked nationwide outrage. The victims were gunned down by terrorists linked to Pakistan, with several being shot after their religious identity was questioned.

In response to the attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been investigating the incident since April 23, gathering evidence and questioning eyewitnesses to piece together the events. The Indian Army has launched operations to track down and neutralize the terrorists involved.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which met on April 23, condemned the attack and expressed its deep condolences to the victims’ families. The committee also acknowledged the cross-border nature of the attack, emphasizing that it occurred amidst significant progress in the Union Territory’s elections and economic development.
