New Delhi: Ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal has written to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat, raising concerns over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) alleged actions that he claims are “weakening democracy.” Kejriwal’s letter questions whether the RSS supports BJP’s alleged practices, including “cash for votes” and “deletion of votes.”

Kejriwal accused BJP leaders of openly distributing money to influence voters and questioned the RSS’s stance on such actions. “BJP leaders are openly distributing money. Does RSS support buying votes? Dalit and Purvanchali votes are being cut on a large scale. Does RSS think this is right for democracy?” Kejriwal wrote in the letter.

He further alleged that BJP is manipulating voter lists, referring to what he called “Operation Lotus” in his New Delhi constituency. “Since December 15, BJP has applied for the deletion of 5,000 votes and the addition of 7,500 votes. Why conduct elections if you are manipulating approximately 12% of the total voters in the assembly?” Kejriwal said during a press conference.

The BJP, however, dismissed the allegations, accusing the AAP of including illegal votes in the electoral rolls. BJP spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged that AAP had added thousands of illegal votes, including those of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, to secure an electoral advantage. “We will remove every single one of these illegal votes,” Sirsa stated, as reported by IANS.

This is not the first time Kejriwal has reached out to the RSS chief. In September 2024, he penned a similar letter, raising questions about BJP’s leadership and policies. The latest exchange reflects escalating tensions between the two parties as Delhi gears up for another high-stakes election.
