From Naxal-Affected District to Skills Hub: Amruta Fadnavis Highlights Gadchiroli’s Transformation

Inaugurates hostels, dining facility and driving school; distributes apprenticeship orders and job offers to women trainees

Gadchiroli: “A district once affected by Naxalism is now witnessing remarkable transformation through inclusive development,” Amruta Fadnavis said after visiting Gadchiroli and inaugurating a series of education, residential and skill-development facilities for local youth and women.

During her visit, Mrs Fadnavis inaugurated the Lloyds Eklavya Hostel, Lloyds Shakti Hostel, Lloyds Bhojanalya and Lloyds Driving School. The facilities are intended to support students and trainees participating in educational and vocational programmes in the district.

She also distributed awards, apprenticeship orders and employment offer letters to women trainees. Describing the occasion as heartening, Fadnavis said the initiatives were creating new livelihood opportunities and helping local women move towards economic independence.

Fadnavis toured the Lloyds Academy and inspected its Driving School, Digital Lab, Welding Simulator Lab, Welding Training Area and Automotive Two-Wheeler Lab.

The gathering was addressed during the inauguration of educational and vocational training facilities in Gadchiroli.

She said she was encouraged to see what she described as “world-class skill development facilities” providing professional training and employment opportunities to young people from Gadchiroli.

The programmes focus on practical and industry-oriented skills, including driving, welding, digital learning and automobile servicing. Such training can help prepare local youth for apprenticeships and employment in industrial and allied sectors.

Fadnavis complimented Balasubramaniam Prabhakaran, Managing Director of Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited, for the company’s community-oriented initiatives in the district.

She said the programmes were creating opportunities for local youth and women while strengthening the broader development process in Gadchiroli.

Fadnavis also praised Devendra Fadnavis, whom she referred to as the district’s Guardian Minister, for his continued support for Gadchiroli’s development.

The visit highlighted the growing emphasis on combining industrial development with education, residential support and vocational training in a district that has historically faced challenges related to geographical isolation, limited employment opportunities and Left-wing extremism.

Concluding her remarks, Amruta Fadnavis wished the trainees and residents success as they worked towards building brighter futures for themselves and for Gadchiroli.

The Lloyds Infinite Foundation has undertaken several educational and skill-development initiatives in Gadchiroli, including residential facilities and training programmes aimed at improving access to education and employment for tribal and local communities.
