New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday condemned the deadly Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, which claimed the lives of eight jawans from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and a civilian driver. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Shah vowed that the Indian government would eliminate Naxalism from the country by March 2026.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of DRG soldiers in an IED blast in Bijapur,” Amit Shah wrote. “I express my deepest condolences to the families of the brave soldiers. It is impossible to express this grief in words, but I assure you that the sacrifice of our soldiers will not go in vain. We will end Naxalism from the land of India by March 2026,” he added.

The attack, which took place on Monday, saw a vehicle carrying security personnel blown up by Naxals using a powerful improvised explosive device (IED). Police confirmed the tragic loss of life, with eight DRG jawans and the civilian driver perishing in the explosion.
