Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday commended Delhi Police for their series of successful operations in seizing narcotics worth ₹13,000 crore. Shah vowed that the government’s fight against the drug trade would continue relentlessly, emphasizing that the Modi administration is committed to safeguarding India’s youth from the perils of drugs.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shah said, “I congratulate Delhi Police for the series of successful operations seizing drugs worth ₹13,000 crore, including the recent one with Gujarat Police recovering cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore. The hunt against drugs and narco trade will continue with no laxity.” He further added, “The Modi government is committed to building a drug-free Bharat by protecting our youth from the scourge of drugs.”

The commendation came following a joint operation between Delhi and Gujarat Police on October 13, where 518 kilograms of cocaine were recovered in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, and five suspects were arrested. The haul was linked to a previous operation in Delhi, where 700 kilograms of cocaine had been seized.

With the latest seizures, authorities have recovered a staggering 1,289 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, collectively valued at over ₹13,000 crore. The number of arrests related to these operations has now risen to 12.

According to Delhi Police officials, investigations into the earlier seizure of 700 kilograms of cocaine led to the discovery that the drugs were sourced from Avkar Drugs Limited Company in Ankleshwar. Acting on this information, a Special Cell team was dispatched to Gujarat, where they uncovered the cache and apprehended five individuals at the scene. Police are continuing to interrogate the suspects, probing their involvement in a suspected international narcotics syndicate with ties to Dubai and the UK.

This series of operations marks significant progress in India’s war on drugs. On October 2, Delhi Police’s Special Cell seized over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana from a warehouse in Mahipalpur, south Delhi, valued at ₹5,620 crore. Four people were arrested during the raid, with two more apprehended later in Amritsar and Chennai.

In a subsequent major bust on October 5, the Special Cell recovered 208 kilograms of cocaine from a rented shop in west Delhi, worth ₹2,080 crore. The operation resulted in one more arrest from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to seven in this case.

As police continue their investigations, Shah’s remarks reflect the government’s unwavering stance on eradicating the drug menace in India. The coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies demonstrate a renewed focus on dismantling large-scale international drug syndicates.
