In a letter to the secretary of the Legislative Assembly, BJP MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar informed that the Supreme Court had quashed the one-year suspension of 12 BJP MLAs by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
He stated that the court termed this suspension as illegal, unconstitutional and irrational. He also drew the attention of the secretary to the fact that as per the court order, the MLAs must now be allowed to enter the Vidhan Bhavan.
MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on behalf of the 12 MLAs who were suspended for one year during the monsoon session of the Legislature. A three-judge bench of the apex court in January quashed this suspension on January 28.
On behalf of the 12 MLAs, BJP MLA Adv. Ashish Shelar, on Monday, wrote a letter to the secretary of the Legislative Assembly stating the legal details of the order passed by the Supreme Court along with a copy of the judgement.
He also brought it to the notice of the Assembly Secretariat that after the court revoked the suspension, our entry to the Legislative Assembly premises both in Mumbai and Nagpur has been cleared.
