Patna: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav launched a fierce attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) during his visit to Bihar, accusing it of working in favor of the ruling BJP. Yadav dubbed the poll body as the “Jugaad Commission” while joining the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav.

“I have come here to join the Voter Adhikar Yatra. The voice of Bihar is echoing across the nation. The BJP will be uprooted from here because they have played with the constitutional rights of people,” Yadav told reporters in Patna. Taking a direct swipe at the poll body, he added, “The people of Bihar have carried out their own Special Intensive Revision on the Election Commission, which has now become the ‘Jugaad Commission’ of BJP.”

The Voter Adhikar Yatra has been drawing huge crowds across Bihar. On Friday, the march reached Siwan, where Rahul Gandhi escalated his attack on the BJP, accusing the party of orchestrating widespread voter fraud.

“BJP leaders are now jumping around uncontrollably because they have been caught red-handed in theft. We exposed their thievery in Mahadevapura, but soon Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka—everywhere—the truth will come out. Even children now say they won’t let Narendra Modi steal votes,” Gandhi declared.

The 16-day yatra, which covers more than 1,300 km across 20 districts, aims to highlight alleged irregularities in the voter list, an issue the opposition has branded as “vote chori” (vote theft). The march will conclude in Patna on September 1.
