In a surprising political twist, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has come out in defence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who is facing allegations related to land dealings. The statement has triggered a fresh political storm after Akhilesh simultaneously alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing a larger strategy to replace chief ministers in multiple states.
The Kannauj MP described the controversy as part of a “planned narrative”, suggesting that the allegations against Mohan Yadav were being circulated to justify internal leadership changes within the BJP.
“BJP Planning to Replace 3 Chief Ministers”: Akhilesh’s Claim
Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the ruling party is actively working on a reshuffle of top leadership in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.
He said the ongoing political discussions and controversies were not isolated incidents but part of a broader internal strategy within the BJP.
Without directly holding back, he also referred to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alleging large-scale land acquisition, though he provided no supporting evidence for the claim.
Akhilesh remarked that leadership changes in Uttar Pradesh would “automatically happen” after the 2027 assembly elections, hinting at a political shift in the state.
Mohan Yadav Defended Amid Allegations
Referring to the controversy surrounding Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, Akhilesh stated that the accusations were politically motivated.
He noted that Mohan Yadav’s earlier background in the real estate sector was being unnecessarily dragged into the present political discourse.
According to him, the allegations are part of a wider attempt to destabilize BJP leadership structures rather than genuine corruption concerns.
BJP’s Strong Counterattack
The BJP quickly pushed back against Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks. Madhya Pradesh BJP president Hemant Khandelwal dismissed the allegations as completely unfounded and politically driven.
He also accused the opposition of selectively targeting leaders from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community.
In a video statement, Khandelwal said there was “no factual basis” to the claims and suggested that Congress and allied opposition parties were attempting to weaken leaders who belong to backward communities.
He also pointed out that past BJP leaders from similar backgrounds, including former chief ministers, had faced similar political targeting.
Om Prakash Rajbhar Enters the Debate
Adding another layer to the controversy, Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar defended both Mohan Yadav and Yogi Adityanath while simultaneously launching a counterattack on Akhilesh Yadav.
Rajbhar alleged that Akhilesh was reacting out of fear of potential revelations related to business interests linked to his political circle.
He further claimed that accusations against Mohan Yadav were “well-known matters being unnecessarily politicised”.
Political Temperature Rises Across States
The exchange has escalated into a multi-state political confrontation involving leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
While Akhilesh Yadav’s comments have raised questions about internal BJP dynamics, rival parties have accused him of making politically charged statements without evidence.
With assembly elections in multiple states on the horizon, the controversy is expected to further intensify, adding fresh momentum to already heated political narratives across northern and central India.
