Air India Express has unveiled a groundbreaking move by announcing the launch of Surat-Dubai flights, marking a historic milestone as the first carrier to establish a direct link between two pivotal diamond trading hubs.

The announcement, made on Friday, signifies a significant leap in connectivity between Surat and Dubai, amplifying prospects for enhanced trade ties and economic collaboration between these renowned diamond-centric regions.

Coinciding with this development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to inaugurate the impressive ₹3500 crore Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) situated in Khajodi, on the outskirts of Surat city. The inauguration of this state-of-the-art facility adds another dimension to Surat’s prominence in the global diamond trade landscape.

The strategic decision by Air India Express to commence flights between Surat and Dubai comes in response to persistent demands from the Surat diamond trading community, aiming to bolster diamond trade by fostering seamless connectivity between these hubs.

Surat holds a commanding position in the diamond industry, manufacturing an astounding 92% of the world’s rough diamonds. The establishment of India’s second diamond bourse in the city reinforces the vision to transform Surat into a thriving global trading hub for the diamond trade.

The commencement of direct flights between Surat and Dubai is poised to unlock new opportunities for the diamond industry, facilitating smoother transactions and reinforcing Surat’s stature as an epicenter of the global diamond trade.

This strategic move not only elevates trade possibilities but also amplifies Surat’s role on the global economic stage, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering international collaborations and facilitating seamless trade interactions in the diamond sector.
