Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, who had filed a defamation case against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra, has withdrawn the suit in the Delhi High Court, as reported by Live Law.
Dehadrai initially initiated legal action in response to what he claimed were defamatory statements made by Moitra across various social media platforms as well as in print and electronic media. These statements allegedly contained disparaging remarks about Dehadrai’s professional and personal conduct.
In March, Dehadrai filed the defamation suit against Moitra in the Delhi High Court, seeking Rs 2 crore in damages from the former TMC MP. He alleged that Moitra’s comments, particularly in relation to the cash-for-query scandal, portrayed him as “jobless” and “jilted.”
Furthermore, the suit requested a permanent injunction to remove the defamatory content from all social media platforms.
However, with the withdrawal of the defamation case, the legal battle between Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai and Mahua Moitra seems to have come to a close, marking a significant development in the ongoing controversy.
