New Delhi: Ahead of the implementation of the new GST reforms, AAP MP Sanjay Singh launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his advocacy for Swadeshi products and critiquing his economic policies.

Addressing ANI, Singh said, “PM Modi wears glasses from Italy, a watch from Switzerland, uses a phone from America, drives cars from Germany, and is loaded with foreign brands, yet he tells people to use Swadeshi products.”

He further alleged that India continues to import goods worth crores from the US and China, making Modi’s Swadeshi push appear contradictory. “It is a matter of regret that the country now faces a Prime Minister who has crippled the economy, broken the back of the common man, and even weakened foreign policy,” Singh added.

Criticising the GST reforms, Singh claimed that the tax system, introduced in 2017, has imposed a heavy burden on citizens. “In the last 8 years, crores of rupees have been taken from the people in the name of tax… Why was this burden imposed on the citizens for 8 years?” he questioned.

Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi addressed the nation on the occasion of Shardiya Navratri, urging citizens to prioritise Made-in-India products as the new GST slabs came into effect. “We need to make every home a symbol of Swadeshi… every shop should be adorned with Swadeshi products,” he said.

Calling the GST reforms a “Bachat Utsav”, Modi highlighted the contribution of the country’s youth, stating, “We should buy products that are Made-in-India… in which the hard work of our country’s youth is involved… the sweat of our country’s sons and daughters.”
