Mumbai: A political controversy broke out on Sunday morning after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray alleged that a drone was spotted hovering close to his family residence in Mumbai. The incident, which occurred early in the day, triggered concerns over security and privacy, with Thackeray taking to social media to question the motive behind the activity.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Thackeray claimed that the drone was “caught peeping” into his residence and expressed suspicion about its purpose. “Okay,” he began, in a sarcastic tone, before posing a series of sharp questions aimed at both the Mumbai Police and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

According to reports, once the media began seeking clarity on the incident, the MMRDA stated that the drone was being used for a survey in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area and that the operation had due permission from the Mumbai Police.

However, Thackeray was far from convinced. He questioned the legitimacy of the alleged survey, asking how an officially sanctioned operation could involve a drone flying so close to private property.

“What kind of survey allows a drone to peer into private homes and then leave hastily when noticed? Why weren’t residents informed?” he asked, calling for transparency from both the civic body and the police authorities.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader further demanded accountability, suggesting that if the drone was indeed part of an authorised survey, there should have been prior communication with people residing in the vicinity.
