Aadhaar Face Authentication Sets New Benchmark — Doubles from 100 Crore to 200 Crore Transactions in Just Six Months

Mumbai: This Independence Day, freedom from paperwork is just a glance away. Aadhaar Face Authentication has enabled Aadhaar holders to instantly and securely verify their identity anytime, anywhere — without the need for any physical documents.

Showcasing India’s rapid progress towards seamless, paperless, and secure authentication, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) marked a significant milestone on August 10, 2025, by recording 200 crore transactions through the face authentication system.

The adoption of this innovative method has grown exponentially. In mid-2024, Aadhaar Face Authentication had completed 50 crore transactions. Within just five months, by January 2025, the number had doubled to 100 crore. In less than six months thereafter, the figure doubled again, crossing the 200 crore mark.

Commenting on the achievement, Bhavesh Kumar, CEO, UIDAI, said, “Crossing 200 crore transactions in such a short time underlines the trust and confidence that residents and service providers place in Aadhaar’s secure, inclusive, and innovative authentication ecosystem. The jump from 100 crore to 200 crore transactions in under six months demonstrates not only the scalability of this system but also India’s digital readiness.”

He further added, “From villages to metros, UIDAI is working with governments, banks, and service providers to empower every Indian citizen with the ability to authenticate their identity instantly, securely, and from anywhere.”

The rapid rise from 100 crore to 200 crore transactions in just six months underscores the core vision of Digital India — transforming the country into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge-based economy. By enabling instant, secure, and paperless identity verification in every corner of the nation, UIDAI is strengthening the backbone of digital governance.

This milestone is not just about numbers — it is proof that when inclusive technology is deployed effectively, it can bridge divides, empower citizens, and accelerate India’s journey towards a truly connected and confident digital future.
