In the wake of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader A Raja’s recent remarks on India and Lord Ram, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey has strongly condemned the statements, labeling Raja as “mentally sick” and calling for him to receive appropriate treatment.

The controversy erupted when A Raja, speaking at an event in Madurai, made comments questioning the concept of India as a nation and expressing skepticism towards the significance of Lord Ram. His remarks, shared widely on social media by Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell head Amit Malviya, drew sharp criticism from various quarters.

In response, Anand Dubey, representing the Shiv Sena (UBT), emphasized the unity of the INDIA bloc in denouncing Raja’s comments. “The INDIA bloc dismisses and condemns his remarks. People like A Raja, who do not possess any knowledge and are mentally sick, need to be treated properly,” Dubey asserted.

Dubey further urged DMK Chief MK Stalin to take action to prevent similar statements from being made by leaders within the party, highlighting the need for responsible discourse, particularly in the context of political alliances.

The fallout from Raja’s remarks has extended beyond party lines, with BJP leaders and Union Ministers also condemning the statements. Former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned whether leaders from other parties within the INDIA bloc, such as Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, agree with Raja’s sentiments. Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused the DMK leader of being part of the ‘tukde tukde’ gang and seeking to undermine Indian culture.

However, Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), another ally in the INDIA bloc, sought to distance the alliance from Raja’s comments, emphasizing that they represent his personal views and not those of the coalition.

As the fallout from A Raja’s remarks continues to reverberate in political circles, the incident underscores the delicate balance of alliances and the importance of maintaining cohesion within political blocs during the run-up to elections.
