The administration of Union Territory of Jammu And Kashmir has identified 75 new tourist places on the occasion of 75th years of independence. The facilities for adventure sports have been created at many of these places, the directors of tourism for Jammu and Kashmir informed the press here today. Director of Tourism for Kashmir region Dr. G.N. Itoo and Director of Tourism for Jammu region Shri Vivekanand Rai addressed a joint press conference today to inform about the new tourism places and facilities in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that the state is hundred percent safe for tourists. 

Speaking with the press persons, Dr. Itoo said that 75 new virgin tourist places have been identified by the UT of Jammu and Kashmir administration and the basic infrastructure has been developed at these places. These places were neglected till date even though these places have excellent natural beauty. But now under the instructions from the central government and under the guidance of Lt. Governor, the Union Territory administration has developed basic infrastructure at these 75 places. Many of these places are supplied with the infrastructure for adventure sports. The tourists travelling along with families will find special facilities for them too. New ice sports facilities have also been created at these places.

Dr. Itoo told the press that Jammu and Kashmir also has tourism options for bird watchers, sanctuary lovers and other nature tourists. Jammu and Kashmir has a rich heritage of ancient houses and other buildings, temples, which can be a great attraction for tourists. Tourists will also enjoy the experience of the handicrafts and the hospitality of Jammu and Kashmir, he added. The saffron and other farmings is also another attraction of the state, he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department has taken up a skill development programme for the private tourism service providers in the union territory, Dr. Itoo said. This will enhance the experience of the tourists to memorable levels. The tourism department is also working on capacity building and enhancement programmes, he added further.  

New Film Policy

Jammu and Kashmir was once a favorite shooting destination for the film makers. The union territory’s tourism department is striving to claim that glory once again, Dr.Itoo said. A new Film Policy has been notified under the guidance from the honorable Lt. Governor, and a single window system has been created for all the necessary permissions for the film shootings.

Full Observation of COVID Protocol

While many of the states including Maharashtra were facing curbs during the second wave of the COVID, Jammu and Kashmir was free from all the curbs as the COVID protocol was fully followed, Dr. Itoo said. Of private service providers, 95 percent of the persons have been fully vaccinated and the hundred percent of the government staff have been fully vaccinated. The tourists should visit Jammu and Kashmir without any fear, he said. Jammu and Kashmir is the only state where the vaccine doses have been made available even to visiting tourists. The tourists will get 10 minutes rapid test facilities at the airports and railway stations and bus stands, if they are not vaccinated. If found positive, the tourists would be provided with adequate treatments and quarantine facilities if required.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Festival

Jammu and Kashmir tourism Festival will be celebrated for three months starting from October 20 this year, said Shri. Vivekanand Rai, director of tourism Jammu region. The festival includes religious tourism, house boat festival, lake festival, saffron farming festival etc. The oncoming Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Deepavali and other major festivals will be celebrated in the state in the presence of national celebrities, Shri. Rai added.

Jammu and Kashmir is as safe for tourists as one’s own home, Shri Vivekanand Rai told press. He supported his statement by quoting the National Crime Records Bureau reports, which said J&K has zero percent crime against tourists. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is the safest place for the tourists in the country.

He also informed that there is a massive ongoing Cleaning Campaign going on in Jammu and Kashmir, which has resulted in an overall healthy environment in the state for tourists.

Shri. Farookh Kuthu, president of the Jammu Kashmir Travel Agents Associations was also present during the interaction with the press. Abhijit Patil of Raja Rani Travels, which is credited as the pioneers of the tourism in Jammu Kashmir welcomed the press persons.
