Mumbai: The two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature commenced today in Mumbai. As soon as the proceedings of the legislative assembly began this morning, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Devendra Fadnavis attacked the ruling dispensation for not allowing the legislators to use their legislative tools to raise issues of public importance in the session. He also said that tabling the Bills and passing them today itself would be unfair.

Meanwhile, noisy scenes were witnessed in the Legislative Assembly on the alleged suicide of MPSC candidate Swapnil Lonkar, who had cleared the prelims and mains exams and was waiting for the interviews.

The leader of the opposition, Devendra Fadnavis criticized the government on the functioning of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and demanded its overhauling. Besides, he also demanded a debate on the issue.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Sudhir Mungantiwar demanded Rs. 50 lakh compensation to the next of the kin. Responding to Fadnavis and Mungantiwar, Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar said that the state government will fill up all the vacant posts of MPSC by the 31st of this month.
