Local slum dwellers to meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray soon

Mumbai: Fed up with official lethargy and inaction towards their rehabilitation and redevelopment the slum dwellers in Colaba have become aggressive in demanding immediate solution to the long-awaited Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project in Colaba.
The agitated slum dwellers are demanding immediate relocation of 5,000 slum dwellers. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagar and Shri Ganeshmurti Nagar Cuff Parade Backbay Reclamation SRA Co-op Housing Society Proposal. The slum dwellers will soon submit a statement to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in this regard.
According to detailed information, the historic city of Mumbai is surrounded by slums in many areas. But overall, these slums are ruining the glory of Mumbai city. But the citizens here have been demanding the rehabilitation of the slum dwellers who have been living in this place for many years, through SRA.
There are about 7,000 slums in this place, out of which 5,000 local slum dwellers have come together and started efforts to get LOI (Letter of Intent) from the authorities at SRA. The slum dwellers have alleged that the project was stalled due to the selfishness and interference of a big developer. In the recent meeting, out of 5,000 eligible slum dwellers, only 100 promoters were selected.
Prashant Ghadge, the promoter of the organization, has demanded that now Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad should pay serious attention to this issue and get justice for the local slum dwellers.
The office bearers of the organization said in a recent general meeting. Prakash Ghadge, Chief Promoter, Vinayak Vengurlekar, Chief Adviser, Sharad Gavkar, Chief Mentor, Vdarkanand Patil, Chief Promoter of Wadala Anand Nagar SRA, Ramesh Billare, Lawyer, Badshah Khan, Promoter Prashant Ghadge and others were present on the occasion.
