Have you heard of political parties with names like Asli Deshi Party, well they do exist in Bihar!

@prashanthamine

Mumbai: Have you ever heard of political parties with names like ‘Asli Deshi Party’ or ‘Sathi Aur Aapka Faisla Party’, well never mind, but they do exist and that too in Bihar. Strange as they may sound these political parties do exist and they do in hordes of them. One thing that caught our attention were the names of some of these political parties that had contested the recent October-November 2020 Bihar assembly elections.

Part IVA, Section 29A of the Representation of The Peoples Act, 1951 (RP Act 1951) deals with the Registration of Political Parties. It lays down the rules, format, procedures and other details for the registration of political parties and how they should function. But surely the Election Commission of India (ECI) has no control over what names the founders should name their political parties.

Asli Deshi Party seems to be staking claim to being the original local party. It is not clear as to what ‘mission’ is of the ‘Public Mission Party’. But still there is this ‘Rashtriya Mahan Ganatantra Party’.

Bharat Bhrashtachar Mitao Party and the Anti-Corruption Dynamic Party seem to give the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) a complex of sorts.

There are a whole set of political parties that simply champion the cause of Human Rights and hence we have – Akhil Bhartiya Manavadhikar Vichar Manch Party, Bhartiya Insan Party, Maanavvaadi Janta Party, Wazib Adhikar Party, Rashtriya Manav Sewa Party and the Aam Adhikar Morcha.

No one knows when will our law makers ever agree to empowering the electorate with the Right To Recall elected representatives who they feel are not up to their standards, hence you have the ‘Right To Recall Party’ in Bihar. Then there is the Satya Bahumat Party, Sarvajan Hitay Party and Aam Janmat Party that should suffice your cravings for a majority or a referendum on any issue.

Looks like the ‘Sathi Aur Aapka Faisala Party’ is still waiting for your Faisala (response/decision).  It does seem as though the ‘Rashtriya Sahyog Party’ seems to espouse the cause of Bipartisanship or national consensus, or what does it do in case there is a hung verdict?

There are court verdicts and laws that bar politicians and political parties from seeking votes in the name of religion, caste, creed or sect. But there is absolutely no problem if the name is – Hindu Samaj Party, Rashtriya Ulama Council, Bajjikanchal Vikas Party, Sankhyanupati Bhagidari Party, and Moolniwasi Samaj Party.

The Tigers or the Feline species of Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bihar should be grinning in their whiskers on finding that there is a party called ‘National Tiger Party’. Forget those who have Tigers as their party symbol or a logo, here is a full-fledged party for them.

Jago Hindustan Party’ and ‘Bharat Jago Janta Party’ seem to be telling ‘Hindustan Sampoorna Azad Party’ that there is ‘Nation First Democratic Party’ that is as ‘Jagrook Janta Party’ with ‘Prabal Bharat Party’ and ‘Rashtriya Mahan Ganatantra Party’ in tow!

Then there is the ‘Voters Party International’ that is meant only for voters and one which is truly international. It is not clear whether they can vote in the US Presidential elections.
