Inter-ministerial central team deputed to evaluate damages due to Cyclone Nivar completes its field visit

The eight member inter-ministerial central team, deputed to evaluate the damages caused by the cyclone Nivar in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry completed its tour yesterday. The team members led by the Union Home Ministry Joint Secretary Ashutosh Agnihotri earlier visited several affected places in both the states. They met the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy yesterday at the Secretariat at Fort St George in Chennai, before winding up their tour.

Later, talking to the media at Cuddalore, the Chief minister said the state government has submitted an d memorandum to the central team. It was about seeking the quantum of assistance to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure and to give relief to the affected public.

Mr Palaniswamy said he has asked the Centre to send another team to assess the damages caused by the rain led by the recent cyclone Burevi which weakened before reaching the stores but inundated thousands of acres of paddy fields.
