In Uttar Pradesh, ruling BJP has won 2 MLC seats of Lucknow and Bareilly. Counting is currently underway for rest of 9 seats of graduate and teacher quota of Legislative Council and BJP is leading on 2 seats also. Counting is taking time because of the paper ballots.
BJP candidate Hari Singh Dhillon won from Bareilly Moradabad teachers constituency. He defeated Sanjay Mishra of Samajwadi party by a margin of more than 8 thousand votes. Result of Lucknow teachers constituency also went in favor of BJP. Its candidate Umesh Dwivedi defeated his rival Mahendra Rai. BJP is also leading at Jhansi and Meerut seats. Out of 11 seats for which voting took place on 1st of this month, 5 are of Division Graduate consultancies and 6 of Division Teachers constituencies.
