Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray makes a solemn appeal

Asks people not to crowd temples

Mumbai: Addressing the people of the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray Sunday made a solemn appeal saying that until the vaccine does not come wearing a mask, washing hands and maintaining physical distancing should be followed conscientiously.

Expressing disappointment towards the section of the society for not adhering to the Covid-19 protocol, the CM said nobody should think that the Covid-19 pandemic has vanished.

“Nobody should think that the Covid pandemic has vanished. In European countries and Delhi and Ahmedabad surge in corona, cases are being witnessed. Night curfew is being imposed in Ahmedabad. The health machinery is fully poised in our state to tackle any eventuality but people will have to show discipline,” he said.

Thackeray also said that on the ensuing Kartiki Wari (pilgrimage) on 26th November, devotees should celebrate the festival by avoiding crowds. He also took cognisance of the collapse in handling the devotees at Sai Baba temple at Shirdi.

“The vaccine is yet to arrive. The population of Maharashtra is 12-12.5 crore. And, after administering the booster dose as many as 24-25 crore people will be vaccinated”, he stated.

The Chief Minister underlined that the post covid side-effects are “dangerous” as they have been affecting the brain and other vital organs of the body.

“Unnecessary crowd should be avoided. Wearing a mask, washing hands and physical distancing should be followed. Temples should not be crowded. There is a big question mark on reopening of schools”, Thackeray added.

Saying that he does not want to indulge in politics, CM Thackeray said, some are suggesting to impose night curfew in the state. “One should not step out of their homes if it’s not necessary. We have to control our movement”, he added.
