Mumbai: The state Congress which had announced to stage a protest at the BJP state office today, opposing various schemes of the central government proved to be a damp squib. Hardly any Congress leaders and activists turned up at the BJP state office as BJP corporators, leaders were present in large numbers, claimed BJP state office bearers.
The Congress is spreading confusion among the people by lying about all the schemes of the Central government including the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ which was recently announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Soon the lies of the Congress will be exposed to the public at all levels, said BJP Mumbai president and MLA, Mangal Prabhat Lodha here today.
“This time, a large number of people had gathered at the BJP state office to respond to the Congress protests. While guiding the BJP workers at that time”, Lodha said.
On this occasion, Lok Sabha MP Gopal Shetty, MP Manoj Kotak, Prasad Lad, Parag Alvani, Ram Kadam, MLA Mihir Kotecha, MLA Yogesh Sagar, BJP Mumbai Municipal Corporation group leader Prabhakar Shinde, corporator Atul Shah, corporator Sunita Yadav, Bindu Trivedi, Rajeshri Shirwadkar, nominated corporator Bhalchandra Shirsat, former corporator Praveen Chheda along with many BJP corporators were present in large numbers. However, despite the announcement, Congress workers did not come to the BJP office to protest.
Lodha during his speech said, Congress should support and follow the truth. He also warned that if need be, then BJP will accordingly respond to congress.
Lok Sabha MP Gopal Shetty alleged that while the Opposition was expected to act responsibly during the epidemic, the Congress was spreading confusion in front of the people by lying. All the schemes of the Central Government are excellent and are directly benefiting the people.
“First of all its shame for congress itself that after announcing a big protest only 5-6 people gathered somewhere near Mantralaya. Congress is trying to put Shiv Sena in trouble as they are in government and they are only agitating. They should follow the pandemic rules so the ruling party has crossed the line and now they will have to face the music. Mumbai police should take strict action against them, if police doesn’t act then we will see what to do”, said Gopal Shetty.
Prasad Lad lashed out at the Congress, alleging that the Congress workers themselves were raising questions about the Centre’s plan on social media and their own workers were answering those questions and in a way they were creating a false commotion.
In a statement issued here later Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) president Satyajeet Tambe quipped, “Modi Ji, where did that Rs. 20 Lakh Crore go?” Tambe and his MPYCC tried to lead a march to the state BJP headquarters at Nariman Point. He argued that the stimulus package to revive the economy was nothing but a window dressing and in reality it is just a paltry Rs 2 lakh crore stimulus package and that the tax payers will have to bear the cost.
In a counter statement issued by state BJP chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhye stated that the Congress protest march was misdirected and instead asked the Congress to put pressure on Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to announce a package for the poor in the state. The Central Government has provided direct assistance of over Rs 28,000 crore to Maharashtra through various ways. On the other hand, the Maha Aaghadi government has not given a single ‘penny’ worth package to the poor in the state.- By Vikas Nag
