In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Srigufwara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district this morning.
According to the police, a joint team of Anantnag Police, Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles and 116 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force laid a Cordon-and-Search-Operation (CASO) in Srigufwara village based on the basis of a specific intelligence input.
As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the team, triggering off an encounter that resulted in the killing of a terrorist. The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained.
The operation was going on when the reports last came in. Further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, Bandipora Police along with security forces have busted a terror module in Chandargeer and Sadhunara areas in the vicinity of Hajin town and arrested four terrorist associates.
Acting on a specific input, a team of Bandipora Police, 13 Rashtriya Rifles, 45 Battalion of CRPF arrested a terrorist associate from Chandergeer area during a search operation. The terrorist associate has been identified as Shafat Ahmad Dar and a live grenade has been recovered from his possession.
In yet another incident, three more terrorist associates namely Mudasir Ahmad Khawaja, Abdul Qayoom Margo and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar were arrested in a joint CASO by Bandipora Police ,13 RR and 45 BN CRPF in Sadhunara area. Two live grenades, one AK magazine, 25 live rounds of AK- 47 along with an Under-Barrel Grenade Launcher was recovered from the possession of the trio. They were actively involved in providing logistic support and shelter to active terrorists of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit.
FIR in this regard has been registered in Police Station Hajin and further investigation is on.
