Maharashtra: Government extends lockdown till July 31

Maharashtra government has extended the lockdown in the state till July 31. This comes a day after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that the lockdown curbs in the state will continue beyond June 30.

The state government has issued fresh guidelines in which it said that that movement for non-essential activities must be restricted within the neighbourhoods. “It is further directed that the movement of persons for the purposes of non-essential activities like shopping and the outdoor exercises, shall be restricted within the neighbourhood area limits with all necessary prescribed mandatory precautions of wearing masks, social distancing and personal hygiene,” a statement read.

According to state government guidelines, only those attending offices and emergencies will be allowed unrestricted movement.
