Srinagar: Senior JCC leader and general secretary of Jammu and Kashmir employee’s joint action committee (JKEAC) Syed Gulam Rasool Geelani urged the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (J&K UT) Government to release the pending earned wages of all temporary workers who are currently fighting COVID-19 at the frontline.
Speaking to media persons here, the JCC leader disclosed that government workers including DRWS, need base, seasonal, casual, NYC workers, Aasha and Aganwadi workers and helpers who are working with the permanent establishment with great zeal and zest in these tough times to provide basic necessities to the general public.
Geelani added that workers are suffering due to non-availability of payments. He further urged upon the J&K UT administration to amend the SRO 520 to pave the way for the early regularization of their services.
He appreciated role of doctors, paramedics, police, municipal workers, media personnel, forest, PDD, PHE, and other employees of various departments who are fighting COVID-19 at the front lines.
The JCC leader further appealed higher authorities to maintain greater coordination amongst various departments in these circumstances to work smoothly without any inconvenience to the employees. Geelani said that most of the employees are being harassed by the arrogant attitude of the bureaucracy as one the doctor has been suspended as he was demanding PPE kits, while a range officer was attached while performing his legitimate duties without any fault. The storekeepers and municipal workers are being harassed while performing their duties.
Geelani appealed to the honorable Lieutenant Governor (LG) his advisors and Chief Secretary of JK UT to issue the advisories to follow the pandemic protocol more than administrative protocol in these social crisis.
He also appealed the employees to provide a helping hand to the needy people in their surroundings in these tough times and also appealed the general public to stay home and maintain social distances to break the chain of COVID-19.
