PDP workers staged a protest at the party headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday, demanding that the Jammu and Kashmir government make public the report prepared by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on the rationalisation of the Union Territory’s reservation policy.
The protest was led by PDP leader Iltija Mufti, with party workers carrying placards and raising slogans in support of their demand.
The protesters called for the committee’s findings to be released without further delay so that the recommendations can be examined publicly.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee was formed to examine concerns linked to the existing reservation system in Jammu and Kashmir and consider possible changes to the framework.
During the protest, PDP workers also raised issues related to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category and the requirement linked to residential conditions.
The protesters said the report should not remain inaccessible and called for greater transparency over the recommendations made by the committee.
The demonstration comes amid continuing discussion over Jammu and Kashmir’s reservation framework and demands from different sections for clarity on the changes being considered by the administration.
