Iran has escalated its confrontation with the United States by launching a missile barrage against US military positions in Jordan, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, citing Arab media reports.
The reported missile attack came after a series of strikes on Iranian maritime assets near Kharg Island and Jask, with Tehran presenting the operation as retaliation for attacks on its oil tankers.
IRIB reported that Iranian missiles were launched towards what it described as enemy positions and claimed that an American military base operating in Jordan was successfully hit. The reports could not be independently verified from the information provided.

The Iranian force accused the United States of attacking Iranian tankers and warned vessels in the two Gulf states to leave their ships immediately.
“In light of the atrocities of the American terrorist army in targeting several tankers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we warn all tanker crews in the Kuwaiti and Bahraini ports, which host these terrorists and are partners in their atrocities, to immediately leave their vessels, whether at anchor or at the ports, because they will be targeted,” the IRGC Navy said, according to IRIB.
The warning raises concerns about the potential expansion of the conflict beyond direct US-Iranian military targets and into commercial shipping routes.
Iran Claims Capture of US Underwater Drone
The latest missile strikes follow another major claim from Tehran.
Earlier on Tuesday, Iran’s IRGC Navy said it had intercepted and captured a US unmanned underwater vehicle near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz during what it described as an intelligence and operational mission.
According to IRIB, Iranian forces “trapped one of the most modern, intelligent, unmanned submarines” operated by the US military.
Iranian state news agency IRNA said the underwater vehicle contained advanced technology and had been delivered to the US fleet in 2025. Tehran reportedly described the seizure as a “war trophy” and said images of the captured system would be released.

Trump said oil prices would fall sharply after what he described as a US victory over Iran. He also predicted that petrol prices could eventually fall below $2 per gallon.
“Oil prices will drop precipitously, like everything else is dropping (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He added: “Three Dollars a gallon, but ultimately, below Two Dollars a gallon.”
Trump also reiterated his position that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
“It will all happen quickly, and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA!” he wrote.
