Mumbai: Playback and devotional singer Pamela Jain has released a new rendition of “Bada Natkhat Hai Re Krishna Kanhaiya” to mark Janmashtami, with the track being distributed by Saregama. The song revisits the composition from the 1972 film Amar Prem, originally composed by R.D. Burman with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The devotional number centres on Yashoda’s affection for the young Krishna and his mischievous childhood. For the new version, Jain worked with musicians at Studio Acoustica in Kolkata. Music programming was handled by Shourya Ghatak, while Raja Chowdhury and Ghatak contributed acoustic guitar. Bubai Nandy played the flute, and Saharsha Ghatak handled dubbing, mixing and mastering.
Speaking about the rendition, Jain said Krishna’s childhood stories had remained closely associated for her with innocence, playfulness and maternal affection. She said the new recording was intended as a tribute to the original creators while presenting the song to contemporary listeners. The track has been released on major music streaming platforms, while its video is available through Saregama on YouTube.
