Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president Nitin Nabin and other NDA leaders came together on Tuesday for the alliance’s weekly parliamentary party meeting, ‘Mangal Milan’, at the Parliament Library Building.
The meeting took on a patriotic tone as NDA leaders and MPs waved the Tiranga, while slogans of “Vande Mataram” echoed through the GMC Balayogi Auditorium.
The gathering marked the final NDA parliamentary party meeting of the 2026 Monsoon Session, with alliance partners using the occasion to coordinate their strategy for the remaining parliamentary proceedings.
‘Mangal Milan’ Focuses On NDA Floor Strategy
The weekly NDA meeting, now known as ‘Mangal Milan’, has emerged as a platform for leaders of the ruling alliance to coordinate their approach on important legislative and political issues.
Tuesday’s meeting came at a time when Parliament continues to face disruptions over the Opposition’s demand for a statement from Amit Shah on the police action against students during the July 20 protest.
Following the meeting, NDA MPs marched towards Parliament carrying placards targeting the Opposition. The ruling alliance accused Opposition parties of avoiding a discussion despite the government repeatedly stating that the Home Minister is prepared to respond.
NDA Steps Up Attack On Opposition Over Parliament Deadlock
The NDA’s latest show of unity comes amid a continuing confrontation between the government and the Opposition over the student protests.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had said on Monday that the Centre was prepared to hold a detailed discussion on issues connected with the student movement and the police action.
Rijiju maintained that Amit Shah would participate in the debate and respond to the points raised by Opposition MPs.
“The government is ready for a discussion on issues related to students. We are ready and will respond to all the points that will be raised by the Opposition. The Home Minister will respond,” Rijiju said.
He also appealed to Opposition members not to disrupt proceedings once the discussion begins.
Amit Shah At Centre Of Parliament Face-Off
The Opposition has continued demanding Shah’s response over the July 20 police crackdown on protesting students. The issue has become one of the major flashpoints of the Monsoon Session.
The government, however, has maintained that it is willing to discuss the matter and has urged Opposition MPs to allow Parliament to function.
Rijiju had also said that the Opposition should listen to the Home Minister’s response rather than create a ruckus during the proceedings.
With the Monsoon Session nearing its conclusion, the NDA’s Tiranga display and subsequent march towards Parliament underscored the sharp political divide between the ruling alliance and the Opposition over the handling of the student protests.
