Aban Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, was killed in a tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on Thursday. The crash also claimed the lives of two other occupants, while three people sustained serious injuries and were admitted to hospital.
Car Crashes Into Divider On Highway
According to police, the victims were travelling in a white SUV from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet Aban’s elder brother, Ali Ahmed, who is currently lodged in the district jail. During the journey, the vehicle reportedly lost control and rammed into a highway divider in the Poonch police station area.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the vehicle extensively damaged and trapping several occupants inside.
Three Dead, Three Injured
Emergency responders and local police rushed to the accident site after receiving information about the crash. Rescue teams shifted the injured to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed the deaths of Aban Ahmed and two other passengers.
Three survivors, identified as Mohammad Zaid, Omar and another occupant, are undergoing treatment for serious injuries. Their condition is being monitored by medical authorities.
Police Launch Probe Into Accident
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have lost control of the speeding vehicle before it struck the divider, though officials are examining all possible factors.
Aban Ahmed’s Background
Aban Ahmed, reportedly around 20 years old, was among the youngest members of Atiq Ahmed’s family. Following the Umesh Pal murder case, Aban and his brother Ajam, both minors at the time, were placed in a juvenile home. They were released in October 2023 and later handed over to the care of their aunt.
The latest tragedy comes more than three years after gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead while in police custody in Prayagraj, a case that had drawn nationwide attention.
