‘Slipper Attack’ Row Deepens: Man Released On Bond After Incident At Pappu Yadav’s Press Meet, MP Alleges Political Conspiracy

Police Free Accused on Personal Bond; Independent MP Claims Attack Was Planned, Demands Action

A day after an accused allegedly hurled a slipper at Independent MP Pappu Yadav during a press conference in New Delhi, police released the man on a personal bond after questioning him. The incident has intensified political controversy, with the MP alleging that the attack was part of a larger conspiracy aimed at targeting him.

The accused, identified as Sumit, is a 34-year-old resident of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh who works in the iron fabrication business in Ghaziabad. According to police, he has no previous criminal record and was released after legal formalities were completed.

Incident Disrupts Press Conference

The incident occurred while Pappu Yadav was interacting with journalists at his official residence in Delhi. During the briefing, where he was speaking about the alleged Ram Mandir offering theft issue and the Opposition’s stand on the matter, a slipper was allegedly thrown towards him, briefly disrupting the press conference.

Supporters of the MP immediately restrained the accused before handing him over to the police.

Claims of Second Suspect Surface

People close to Pappu Yadav alleged that two individuals had entered the venue posing as journalists. They claimed one person threw the slipper while another was allegedly carrying a knife.

However, police have not officially confirmed the allegation regarding a second suspect or the recovery of any weapon, stating that the investigation into the matter is continuing.

Pappu Yadav Levels Serious Allegations

Following the incident, Pappu Yadav accused his political opponents of orchestrating the attack and shared strong remarks on social media.”We will fight these Kalanemis till our last breath. Those who have attacked saints, Sanatan Dharma and looted the Ram Mandir have now targeted us. While I was addressing the media at my official residence, this attack was carried out by a Kalanemi protected by the BJP and RSS. We will follow the path of Lord Hanuman and drive these Kalanemis away. Jai Siyaram!”

In another statement, the MP questioned who was behind the incident and appealed to the country’s top leadership.”Prime Minister and Home Minister, tell me who gave this person the contract to target me. This man, who has been seen with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, launched a murderous attack on me. Tell the country who is protecting such people in your party. Do they enjoy your direct patronage? If not, action should be taken.”

Police Continue Investigation

While the accused has been released on a personal bond, police said the investigation into the incident remains underway. Officials have not commented on the political allegations made by the MP and are examining the circumstances surrounding the disruption at the press conference.
