Mumbai: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Mumbai Mahanagar, on Friday announced its new city executive committee for the 2026–27 term during the ‘Chhatra Satta’ Student Leader Meet held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Fort, Mumbai. The organisation also declared the office bearers of nearly 60 colleges across the city and assigned responsibilities to around 50 student activists.
Sandeep Shinde was announced as the new Mumbai Mahanagar President, while Abhishek Pawar was named the Mumbai Mahanagar Secretary.
The programme was attended by ABVP National Organising Secretary Ashish Chauhan, National Secretary Payal Kinake, and Gaurav Singh Sohel, President of the Punjab University Students’ Union.
Addressing the gathering, Ashish Chauhan said there could be no compromise on quality education and asserted that ABVP has consistently fought for students’ rights and welfare. Referring to protests over the National Testing Service (NTS) and campaigns demanding greater transparency in the examination system, he said ABVP had been the first organisation to take to the streets in defence of students’ interests.
He further emphasised that nation-building begins with character-building, adding that developing capable, responsible and empowered youth is essential for achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
National Secretary Payal Kinake introduced students to ABVP’s ideology, organisational functioning and the constructive role of the student movement. She urged students to combine social awareness, a national outlook and leadership qualities while contributing to society.
Addressing the participants, Gaurav Singh Sohel said, “Knowledge, Character and Unity are not merely a slogan but the guiding mantra for building a Developed India.” He encouraged students to contribute actively to nation-building while pursuing academic excellence and personal growth.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from student representatives from colleges across Mumbai. During the programme, ABVP resolved to intensify its efforts in the coming year by addressing student issues, expanding the organisation and implementing a range of student-centric initiatives across the city.
