The Centre has opened a fresh channel of communication with leaders spearheading the NEET-related protests, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan meeting representatives of the agitators on Monday amid heightened security and demonstrations near Parliament during the Monsoon Session, as per media reports.
Although the government has not officially disclosed the purpose or outcome of the meeting, it comes at a time when protesters continue to demand accountability over the alleged NEET examination irregularities and reforms in the country’s examination system.
Centre Initiates Dialogue Amid Escalating Protest
The discussions between Pradhan and the protest leaders mark the latest attempt to engage with those leading the agitation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET examination, functions under the Ministry of Education, placing the issue directly under Pradhan’s ministry.
Earlier, Union Minister J.P. Nadda also met representatives of the protesters. Sources indicated that another round of discussions with Nadda could take place later, though no official confirmation has been issued.
Security Intensified Around Parliament
The talks coincided with massive security deployment across central Delhi as thousands of protesters gathered demanding action over the alleged examination irregularities. Authorities erected barricades and restricted movement towards Parliament House and the Central Secretariat to prevent demonstrators from entering high-security zones.
According to reports, clashes broke out when sections of the protesters attempted to move beyond the restricted areas. Security personnel used tear gas to disperse the crowd after tensions escalated, while police continued efforts to maintain law and order.
NEET Row Remains at the Centre of Protest
The alleged NEET paper leak and examination-related controversies remain the core issues driving the demonstrations. Protesters have been demanding greater transparency in the examination process, accountability from the authorities and comprehensive reforms to restore confidence in competitive examinations.
With the Monsoon Session of Parliament underway, the developments are expected to keep the NEET controversy in sharp political focus as the government and protest leaders continue their engagement.
