Ayodhya Donation Probe Reaches Key Stage as Interim Findings Expected in Supreme Court
The investigation into alleged financial irregularities linked to donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has entered an important phase, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) expected to place an interim report before the Supreme Court on July 20. The report is likely to provide the court with an update on the progress of the ongoing inquiry, while the final investigation is still underway.
According to sources, the apex court is expected to review the interim findings as part of the continuing proceedings related to the case. The investigation has not reached any final conclusions, and officials maintain that the probe is still in progress.
SIT Seeks More Time to Complete Investigation
The three-member SIT, formed by the Uttar Pradesh government in June following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has reportedly sought additional time to complete its detailed investigation.
Officials familiar with the matter said the inquiry covers several aspects of donation management and financial procedures. While significant progress has been made, investigators believe more time is required to verify documents, examine records and complete a comprehensive assessment before submitting the final report.
The team’s original deadline was extended earlier this month to allow investigators to continue their work.
Report Could Lead to Changes in Donation Management
Sources indicate that the recommendations in the final report could trigger major reforms in the Trust’s financial administration.
Areas that may witness changes include the collection of donations, cash handling procedures, counting systems and financial monitoring mechanisms. The objective would be to strengthen transparency and improve accountability in managing temple funds.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to hold a meeting in Ayodhya on July 22, where the findings and recommendations of the investigation may be discussed after they are formally presented.
UP Government Promises Action if Irregularities Are Confirmed
The Uttar Pradesh government has stated that it will wait for the investigation to conclude before taking any decision.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said the government would act firmly if the inquiry establishes wrongdoing. He urged people to wait for the official findings, assuring that anyone found responsible would face appropriate action in accordance with the law.
Trust officials have also acknowledged that they are awaiting the SIT’s report but have refrained from commenting further while the investigation remains ongoing.
What the Investigation Is About
The case concerns allegations of financial irregularities involving donations received by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which oversees the management and development of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The SIT is examining financial records, donation-related procedures and administrative processes as part of its investigation. At present, no official findings have established any wrongdoing, and the inquiry remains under judicial consideration.
