‘Did You Feel Proud?’ PM Modi Highlights Operation Sindoor While Addressing Indian Community in Australia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday used his address to the Indian community in Melbourne to showcase India’s growing military capability, technological progress and expanding global influence. Referring to Operation Sindoor, Modi said the country’s decisive action against terrorism had demonstrated India’s strength to the world, while also highlighting achievements in manufacturing, defence and space exploration.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came during his Australia visit, where he also emphasised the deepening partnership between New Delhi and Canberra and praised the contribution of the Indian diaspora to strengthening bilateral ties.

Modi Cites Operation Sindoor as Symbol of India’s Resolve

Speaking to members of the Indian community, Modi said India’s recent counter-terror operation reflected the country’s determination to respond firmly to terrorism. Addressing the gathering, he said, “You must have seen the demonstration in Operation Sindoor. The explosions were taking place at terrorist bases, and their echoes were heard across the world. Did you feel proud on the action taken against terrorist camps?” The remarks were met with applause from the audience.

He said India’s defence capabilities today have earned international recognition and reflect the country’s growing confidence on the global stage.

‘Make in India’ Now a Global Brand, Says PM

Highlighting India’s economic transformation, Modi said the Make in India initiative has evolved into a globally recognised brand over the past decade. He noted that Indian-made mobile phones, automobiles and defence equipment are now finding markets across the world, adding that India’s defence sector has emerged as a symbol of both capability and credibility.

The Prime Minister said the country’s manufacturing growth has strengthened India’s position in the global economy while creating new opportunities across multiple sectors.

Space Missions Reflect India’s Scientific Progress

Modi also pointed to India’s achievements in space exploration, recalling the successful Chandrayaan mission that made India the first nation to land near the Moon’s south pole. He said the country is now preparing for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission and is working towards establishing its own space station, describing these milestones as evidence of India’s rapid scientific advancement.

Indian Community Applauded for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Acknowledging the contribution of the Indian diaspora in Australia, the Prime Minister said Indians living overseas continue to maintain strong emotional and cultural links with their homeland while contributing significantly to Australia’s development.

Recalling his diplomatic engagements with Australia, Modi said his first visit as Prime Minister in 2014 came after a gap of nearly three decades by an Indian premier. Referring to his current visit, he remarked that it was his third trip to Australia in 12 years, calling it a “hat-trick” that reflected the growing momentum in India-Australia relations. He also praised Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his popularity among the Indian community.

Modi arrived in Australia after concluding his visit to Indonesia, where India signed multiple agreements covering agriculture, defence cooperation and collaboration on the BrahMos cruise missile system.
