A fresh political confrontation has erupted between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal questioned BJP national president Nitin Nabin with the remark, “Aap Kaun Hain?”, triggering a series of sharp responses from senior BJP leaders.
The exchange began after Nitin Nabin accused opposition parties of politicising the controversy surrounding the alleged Ram Temple donation theft and asserted that the BJP would protect the faith associated with the temple. “Even if we have to shed our own blood, we will ensure that no one plays with the faith associated with Lord Ram’s temple. We are prepared to make whatever sacrifice is required,” he had said.
Responding on social media, Kejriwal posted a brief but pointed reply, asking, “Aap kaun hain?”, setting off a heated political debate.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta strongly criticised the AAP leader, accusing him of displaying arrogance despite recent political setbacks. In a detailed post, she outlined Nitin Nabin’s political journey, describing him as the youngest national president of the BJP and highlighting his electoral and organisational achievements. She also took a swipe at Kejriwal, saying that excessive pride had often led to political downfall, while recalling a similar remark once directed at another senior BJP leader.
Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma also joined the exchange with a sarcastic response, saying, “National President is a very big deal, but do you even remember me or not?”
The verbal clash comes against the backdrop of the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Opposition leaders have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter, while BJP leaders have accused them of exploiting the issue for political gain.
The controversy has intensified further as the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust convenes an important meeting to review developments related to the investigation, including administrative matters arising from the case. Meanwhile, the political rhetoric surrounding the issue continues to escalate, with both the BJP and AAP sharpening their attacks ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
