A massive fire broke out at a high-rise residential complex in Noida’s Sector 119 on Monday after a suspected air conditioner (AC) explosion triggered a blaze inside an apartment, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and causing panic among residents.
Fire Breaks Out on 21st Floor
According to officials, the incident occurred at Aranya Society, located under the jurisdiction of the Sector-113 Police Station. The fire reportedly started inside a flat on the 21st floor before spreading rapidly to an adjacent apartment.
Residents rushed out of the building as flames and dense smoke engulfed the upper floors of the residential tower. Videos from the scene showed thick black smoke rising from the building, drawing the attention of people in nearby areas.
Firefighters Launch Rescue and Containment Operation
Soon after receiving information, six fire tenders were dispatched to the society. Firefighters immediately began operations to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building.
Officials said the fire was confined to at least two flats, while firefighting operations continued to ensure the flames were completely extinguished.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities had been reported at the time of filing the report.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
Preliminary information suggests that the blaze may have been triggered by an explosion in an air conditioner unit. However, fire department officials said the exact cause will be determined only after a detailed investigation.
The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety measures in high-rise residential buildings, particularly during the summer season when air conditioners remain in continuous use.
Another Residential Fire Reported in Delhi
In a separate incident early Monday, a fire broke out at a four-storey residential building in Delhi’s Keshav Puram area. Fire department personnel rescued three people from the terrace of the building without any injuries.
According to officials, the fire was confined to 24 electricity meters installed on the ground floor. The blaze was brought under control by around 2.30 am, and the exact cause is also being investigated.
Both incidents come days after a devastating fire at a commercial building in Lucknow claimed multiple lives, once again highlighting the importance of fire safety compliance in residential and commercial structures.
