Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlights education reforms, AI-driven learning, youth skilling, healthcare, women’s empowerment, agricultural transformation and innovation-led growth as pillars of Maharashtra’s long-term development strategy.
New Delhi: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reaffirmed Maharashtra’s commitment to playing a leading role in India’s long-term development agenda, presenting the state’s roadmap for “Viksit Maharashtra 2047” at the 11th Meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sharing details after the meeting, Fadnavis said Maharashtra is aligning its development strategy with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, with the objective of transforming the state into a $5 trillion economy by 2047.
The Chief Minister described the meeting as an important platform for collaborative federalism and long-term policy planning, emphasizing Maharashtra’s focus on human capital development, technology adoption and inclusive economic growth.
According to Fadnavis, Maharashtra’s roadmap prioritizes implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, expansion of AI-integrated learning systems and the creation of world-class educational hubs to prepare students for emerging global opportunities.
The state government is also focusing on youth empowerment through large-scale skill development initiatives, entrepreneurship promotion, startup ecosystem expansion and apprenticeship programmes aimed at increasing employment opportunities and enhancing workforce competitiveness.
Highlighting social sector priorities, Fadnavis said Maharashtra is pursuing reforms in healthcare delivery, women’s empowerment programmes, labour and human resource development, sports infrastructure and inclusive welfare policies to ensure balanced growth across regions and social groups.
In agriculture, the Chief Minister emphasized the role of technology-led transformation through AgriStack and digital governance initiatives, which are expected to improve productivity, service delivery and farmer-centric policy implementation.
Fadnavis further stated that Maharashtra will continue to strengthen focused action plans for Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Talukas, ensuring that development benefits reach underserved regions while reducing regional disparities.
The Chief Minister noted that innovation, technology adoption and data-driven governance will remain central to Maharashtra’s development strategy over the coming decades. He reiterated that the state is committed to contributing significantly to India’s goal of becoming a developed, inclusive and globally competitive nation by 2047.
The 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog brought together Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and senior policymakers from across the country to deliberate on key themes related to economic growth, social development, governance reforms and the implementation of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
