‘I Cannot Abandon Mamata Ji’: Babul Supriyo Rejects Rumours of Joining Rebel TMC Group Amid Party Turmoil

Amid intensifying speculation over divisions within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rajya Sabha MP Babul Supriyo has firmly ruled out joining any rival camp, stressing that he remains committed to the party and its leadership.

In a video statement released on Thursday, Supriyo sought to put an end to rumours linking him with a possible breakaway faction. Emphasising his loyalty, he said, “Amidst all this confusion and rumors, I just wish to make it amply clear that I’m neither joining any faction nor any other party. I think it’s inappropriate to abandon a ship when it is in troubled waters.”

His remarks come at a time when reports of internal discontent and factionalism have fuelled political discussions across West Bengal.

Adding to the developments, Lok Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha also rejected claims that he had aligned himself with any rebel group. Responding to the speculation, Sinha acknowledged his outspoken nature but denied being part of any organised dissent within the party.

Addressing the reports, he stated, “Some people are speaking the truth, while others are spreading rumours. Some have claimed that I have joined the so-called rebel group. Yes, by nature I have always been outspoken.”

Sinha further underlined his personal loyalty to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, recalling her support during difficult periods of his political journey. He said, “I often say that if speaking the truth is considered rebellion, then I am also a rebel. I have always spoken frankly and called a spade a spade. But I want to state clearly that Mamata ji stood by me during my difficult times, and today, in her difficult phase, I cannot abandon her.”
