Sachin Pilot Responds After Ashok Gehlot’s Remarks, Says ‘I Have No Personal Feud With Anyone’

Pilot Breaks Silence After Gehlot’s Remarks

The simmering political undercurrents within the Rajasthan Congress resurfaced on Wednesday as senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot delivered a carefully worded address that was widely viewed as a response to recent comments made by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Speaking at a ceremony in Karauli where a statue of his father, late Union Minister Rajesh Pilot, was unveiled, Pilot refrained from naming any individual but sent a clear message on the importance of dignity and restraint in public life.

“I have respected every individual working in the political arena. I have no personal feud with anyone. I speak very carefully because words once spoken cannot be taken back, so struggle and standing by the truth is essential. Restraint, contentment, and showing respect are all necessary; how people behave is not in our hands,” Pilot said.

Sharp Message Wrapped in Restraint

The speech came days after Gehlot suggested that Pilot should acknowledge past mistakes and recognize his role in helping him rise politically. Without directly addressing those remarks, Pilot appeared to push back against the notion that political positions are handed out by individuals.

“We may hold various positions, but our job is not to distribute posts among ourselves. If we simply hand out positions to one another, what ideology, the organization, and the public do? Our duty is to serve the people with absolute truthfulness,” he remarked.

Political observers noted that while the tone remained measured, the comments carried a pointed message about merit, public service, and organizational values.

‘Politics Should Not Be About Rewards’

Expanding on his vision of public life, Pilot argued that responsibility should come through the party’s assessment and the needs of the moment rather than personal expectations.

He said that when the right circumstances arise and the organization finds someone suitable, responsibility naturally follows. However, he cautioned that those who enter politics solely seeking positions or rewards often end up disappointed.

According to Pilot, public trust ultimately rests with leaders who remain committed to honesty, hard work, and accountability, regardless of shifting political equations.

Call for Respect Despite Differences

Highlighting the need for civility in political discourse, Pilot underlined that disagreements should not turn into personal hostility.

“I always expressed heartfelt respect for everyone I have worked with in the political arena,” he said, adding that differences of opinion are natural but should not lead to personal animosity.

He also invoked the Congress slogan of outreach and inclusiveness, stating, “We need to open Mohabbat Ki Dukan—meaning that even if someone disagrees with you, you should win them over so completely that they are ready to walk alongside you.”

Congress Dynamics Back in Spotlight

Pilot’s remarks have once again drawn attention to the long-running political differences between him and Gehlot, a rivalry that has periodically surfaced since the political crisis in Rajasthan in 2020. While neither leader directly escalated the confrontation on Wednesday, the exchange has reignited discussions about leadership equations and internal dynamics within the Rajasthan Congress ahead of future political battles.
