CJP Set for First Major Street Protest as Jantar Mantar Rally Gets Clearance

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-driven movement that gained popularity through social media campaigns, is preparing to hold its first large-scale public demonstration after receiving approval to gather at Jantar Mantar in the national capital.

Organisers announced that supporters should head directly to the designated protest venue and avoid assembling at other locations in central Delhi. The event is expected to begin around 10 a.m. and is likely to attract students and young activists from across the country.

Protest Focuses on Education Accountability

According to CJP leaders, the demonstration is centered on concerns surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. The group has been demanding accountability from authorities and has called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issue.

A message circulated by CJP spokesperson Saurav Das informed supporters that official permission had been obtained for the gathering and urged participants to follow instructions to ensure a peaceful protest.

From Online Campaign to Public Mobilisation

The organisation was founded by Abhijeet Dipke, a graduate of Boston University, and initially emerged as an online movement. Adopting the symbol of a “cockroach” to represent persistence and survival, the group attracted attention among students frustrated by examination-related controversies and recruitment concerns.

Over time, CJP expanded its reach through digital campaigns, becoming a platform for discussions on transparency and reforms in the education sector.

NEET Leak Controversy Remains Key Issue

The alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak sparked nationwide debate after reports of irregularities led to the cancellation of the examination, a subsequent investigation, and a re-test. The issue affected lakhs of students and became a major point of concern among aspirants and their families.

CJP has positioned the controversy at the centre of its campaign, arguing that stronger safeguards and greater accountability are needed to restore confidence in competitive examinations.

Police Monitoring Situation

The development follows earlier remarks by Delhi Police, which had stated that no formal application from the organisation had been received at that stage. Authorities had indicated that any request would be reviewed under established guidelines and that security arrangements would be made if required.

With the protest now moving forward, law enforcement agencies are expected to monitor the gathering to ensure order and smooth movement in the area.

Founder Returns Ahead of Event

Ahead of the demonstration, founder Abhijeet Dipke shared an update on social media while travelling from the United States to India. In a post on X, he wrote that he was “on my way to India” and was “leaving my fate in the hands of the Constitution,” signalling his intention to participate in the mobilisation.
