Sanjay Singh Links TMC Revolt To BJP Strategy, Claims Agencies Used To Trigger Political Splits

Sanjay Singh Targets BJP Over TMC Crisis

Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has linked the ongoing rebellion inside the Trinamool Congress to what he described as a broader political strategy employed by the Bharatiya Janata Party to weaken opposition parties across the country.

Reacting to the dramatic developments in West Bengal, where a large group of Trinamool Congress legislators challenged the party leadership, Singh alleged that investigative agencies have increasingly become instruments of political pressure.

“The way BJP operates involves breaking parties apart, intimidating with ED, CBI, and investigative agencies, which has become a game in the country,” Sanjay Singh said while speaking to reporters.

TMC Faces Biggest Internal Revolt

The political turmoil escalated after 58 TMC legislators reportedly backed a rebel faction led by expelled MLAs Ritabrata Banerjee and Sandipan Saha. The group approached the Assembly Speaker claiming majority support within the legislature party and sought recognition of Ritabrata Banerjee as Leader of the Opposition.

The move has emerged as one of the most serious internal challenges faced by the Trinamool Congress in recent years, raising questions over the future structure of the party’s legislative wing.

Rebels Distance Themselves From Abhishek Banerjee

While presenting their case, rebel leaders openly criticised the role of party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

Ritabrata Banerjee claimed that the new legislative arrangement would function independently of Abhishek Banerjee’s influence and argued that the opposition party needed a fresh direction after its recent electoral setback.

The comments signalled a widening divide between the rebel camp and the existing leadership structure.

Mamata Banerjee Still Respected By Rebel Camp

Despite the confrontation, the dissident legislators maintained that they continue to regard Mamata Banerjee as their leader.

The rebel faction proposed that she take on an advisory role and guide the opposition’s future strategy. Several legislators backing the rebellion stated that they were elected under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and wanted her to remain associated with the movement despite the ongoing dispute.

TMC Launches Organisational Overhaul

As the rebellion gathered momentum, the Trinamool Congress announced the dissolution of all party committees and frontal organisations across West Bengal.

Party leaders described the move as part of a large-scale review and restructuring exercise. However, political observers view the decision as an attempt to regain organisational control amid growing internal unrest.

Battle For Opposition Leadership Intensifies

With rival camps staking claims and political tensions rising, the struggle over control of the opposition space in West Bengal has entered a new phase. The developments have not only triggered a leadership battle inside the TMC but have also sparked a wider national debate over party defections, political loyalty and the role of investigative agencies in India’s political landscape.
