Rain Relief Across India: IMD Warns of Thunderstorms, Strong Winds and Heavy Showers in Multiple States

India is set to witness a significant shift in weather patterns as widespread rainfall activity is expected to impact multiple regions, bringing respite from scorching temperatures and improving conditions in several heat-affected areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a mix of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across large parts of the country over the coming days.

Heavy Showers Expected Across Multiple Regions

Weather officials have indicated that parts of southern, eastern and northeastern India are likely to receive substantial rainfall. States such as Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to experience periods of moderate to heavy showers.

Coastal regions and island territories, including Lakshadweep and Puducherry, may also witness unsettled weather accompanied by strong winds and occasional thunderstorms.

Thunderstorm Activity To Intensify

Apart from rainfall, several areas in central India are expected to face thunderstorm activity. Parts of Maharashtra, Odisha and western Madhya Pradesh could witness lightning, gusty winds and isolated hailstorm events.

Meteorologists have advised residents to remain alert during storm activity, particularly in regions prone to sudden weather changes and localized disruptions.

Northern States Remain Under Watch

The weather department has also placed several northern states under caution for thunderstorm-related activity. Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and parts of Rajasthan may experience cloudy conditions, lightning and brief spells of rain.

Authorities are monitoring conditions closely as strong winds may affect transportation and outdoor activities in some locations.

Temperature Trends To Vary Across Regions

While rainfall is expected to provide temporary cooling in many areas, temperature patterns are likely to differ across the country. Northwestern states could see a gradual rise in daytime temperatures later this week despite intermittent weather disturbances.

In contrast, Maharashtra and Gujarat are expected to experience a slight drop in temperatures due to increased cloud cover and rainfall activity.

Delhi-NCR Likely To See Pleasant Conditions

Residents of Delhi-NCR may receive some relief from summer heat as forecasts suggest cloudy skies and light rainfall during the next couple of days. Breezy conditions and occasional thunderstorm activity are also expected, helping keep temperatures near seasonal averages.

Weather experts say the evolving pattern reflects strengthening pre-monsoon activity across several parts of India, setting the stage for more widespread rainfall in the coming weeks.
