Tensions Erupt During Abhishek Banerjee’s Sonarpur Visit

A visit by Trinamool Congress leader and MP Abhishek Banerjee to Sonarpur in West Bengal turned turbulent after he was confronted by a group of local residents while meeting families reportedly affected by post-poll violence.

According to reports, the situation escalated as protesters surrounded the TMC national general secretary, leading to a heated confrontation. Videos circulating on social media appeared to show commotion at the venue as Banerjee attempted to interact with local residents.

Protesters Raise Slogans Amid Chaos

Witnesses claimed that angry locals voiced their grievances during the visit, creating a tense atmosphere. The disruption reportedly resulted in pushing and jostling, with allegations that Banerjee’s clothes were torn and objects, including eggs, were thrown in his direction.

Security personnel and party workers were seen attempting to bring the situation under control as the confrontation unfolded.

Banerjee Accuses BJP Of Orchestrating Incident

Reacting to the episode, Banerjee alleged that the protest was politically motivated and blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party for the disturbance.

“It’s all BJP-sponsored. Look what they have done. This is their example of democracy. It hasn’t even been a month, and the police are nowhere to be seen,” he said while addressing the media after the incident.

Political Row Intensifies

The confrontation has added to the ongoing political tensions in West Bengal, where clashes and allegations between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP frequently dominate the political landscape.
