Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday underscored the importance of national security, stating that while non-violence should guide human conduct, decisive action becomes unavoidable when the safety of the country and society is threatened.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Nausena Shaurya Vatika in Lucknow, Adityanath said a secure environment is the foundation for development and progress. He noted that nations earn global respect through strength and preparedness, particularly in matters of security.
Referring to the Sanskrit phrase “Ahimsa Paramo Dharmah, Dharma Himsa Tathaiva Cha,” the Chief Minister explained that while non-violence is a noble principle, protecting righteousness and national interests may require the use of force when necessary.
Security Essential for Growth, Says CM
Highlighting the connection between law and order and economic development, Adityanath said major development initiatives can succeed only when citizens feel safe. He contrasted the present situation with earlier years, claiming that crime, curfews and the influence of organised criminal networks had once disrupted normal life in several parts of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Chief Minister, sustained efforts to improve security have helped create conditions more conducive to growth and investment in the state.
Tribute to Armed Forces
The event was attended by Rajnath Singh, who formally inaugurated the naval memorial. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were also present.
Adityanath praised the dedication of India’s armed forces, saying citizens must always respect the soldiers who protect the country’s borders under difficult conditions.
INS Gomati Finds New Purpose
The Chief Minister also highlighted the installation of the decommissioned naval warship INS Gomati at the memorial site. After serving in the Indian Navy for decades and retiring in 2022, the vessel has now been preserved on the banks of the Gomti River as a symbol of the nation’s maritime heritage.
He said the memorial would help educate younger generations about the role of the Indian Navy and inspire them to contribute to nation-building.
Call for a Stronger India
Concluding his address, Adityanath urged citizens to actively participate in India’s development journey and cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation for the armed forces. He said national progress and security must go hand in hand if India is to achieve its long-term goals.
