PM Modi issues nationwide caution as India battles intense heatwave
As India continues to face severe high temperatures and prolonged heatwave conditions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain alert, take basic precautions, and support vulnerable groups during extreme summer weather. In a message shared on X, he highlighted the importance of collective responsibility as heat conditions intensify across several regions.
Hydration and basic precautions remain central advice
PM Modi stressed that staying hydrated is one of the most important steps during extreme heat. He advised people to carry water while stepping outside and to ensure they remain hydrated throughout the day. He also encouraged citizens to extend help to others, noting that small acts such as offering water can make a significant difference in preventing heat-related illness.
Heatstroke warning signs highlighted for public awareness
The Prime Minister also warned about symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, including dizziness, nausea, headache, and unusual fatigue. He urged people not to ignore these signs and to immediately shift affected individuals to a cool or shaded area. He further recommended water and ORS as initial relief measures in such situations.
Special focus on elderly, children and outdoor workers
PM Modi emphasized that senior citizens, children, and outdoor workers are among the most vulnerable groups during extreme heat conditions. He urged families to ensure regular hydration, reduce outdoor exposure during peak hours, and prioritize rest in cooler indoor environments to avoid health risks.
Citizens urged to check on elderly family members
The Prime Minister also called on people to stay connected with elderly parents and relatives, ensuring they are safe and comfortable during the heatwave. Regular check-ins, adequate hydration, and avoiding unnecessary outdoor movement during peak heat hours were strongly recommended.
Compassion toward animals during extreme summer
Along with human safety, PM Modi appealed for care toward animals affected by the scorching heat. He encouraged citizens to place bowls of water outside homes, offices, and public spaces to help birds and stray animals survive the extreme temperatures. He noted that even small gestures of kindness can provide essential relief during harsh weather conditions.
