CM Condemns Brutal Crime, Assures Swift Justice
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday strongly condemned the rape and murder of a minor girl in Pune district, assuring that the accused will face the strictest punishment. He said the state government will push for the death penalty and ensure the case is heard in a fast-track court.
Incident Reported from Bhor Taluka
The crime took place in Nasrapur village of Bhor taluka, where the victim had been staying with her grandmother. According to police, a 65-year-old local resident allegedly lured the child to an isolated cattle shed.
Investigators said the accused sexually assaulted the girl and later killed her by attacking her with a stone. The body was reportedly concealed in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Search Operation Leads to Arrest
The incident came to light after the child went missing, prompting an extensive search by family members and villagers. Her body was later discovered during the search operation.
Police officials stated that CCTV footage from the area helped identify the accused, leading to his arrest shortly after.
Public Outrage and Protests
The case has triggered widespread anger in the region. Residents staged protests and demanded strict punishment. A road blockade was reported, and a bandh was observed in Nasrapur, with shops remaining shut.
Villagers also organised a protest march, gathering in large numbers to express solidarity with the victim’s family and call for justice.
Police Assure Speedy Probe
Sandip Singh Gill said a chargesheet will be filed within 15 days. He added that the case will be pursued on priority under relevant sections of law, including rape and murder.
Authorities have reiterated that the investigation will be fast-tracked to ensure timely justice in the case.
