As Donald Trump’s 8:00 pm Tuesday deadline approaches, Iranian leaders are urging citizens to protect the nation. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian posted on X that over 14 million Iranians are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country. He added, “I too have been, am, and will be a sacrificer for Iran.”
Human Chains Around Power Plants
Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Sports Minister Alireza Rahimi called on athletes, artists, students, and faculty members to form human chains around power plants. He said, “These are our wealth and belongings,” describing it as both a symbolic and physical effort to deter potential air strikes. Rahimi invited citizens to gather near power plants at 2 pm local time on Tuesday.
Trump’s Deadline to Iran
The U.S. President warned that failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a large-scale bombing campaign targeting all Iranian power plants and bridges. During a White House briefing, Trump said, “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.” He added, “These facilities will be burning, exploding, and never to be used again within a four-hour window.” Trump reiterated that Iran must comply before Tuesday at 8:00 pm ET, warning, “There will be no bridges, no power plants” after the deadline.
Why Are Iranians Ready to Sacrifice Themselves?
Iranian leaders are framing the potential U.S. strikes as an existential threat. Citizens are being asked to form human shields to protect critical facilities like power plants and bridges. President Pezeshkian emphasized, “Over 14 million proud Iranians have declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defence of Iran. I too stand ready.”
What Will Happen If Iran Doesn’t Comply?
Trump has warned of a large-scale bombing campaign targeting all power plants and bridges. The White House says the strikes could cripple Iran within hours if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. Trump said, “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.”
