Amid rising panic and viral rumours, a big question gripped people across the state — will Maharashtra go into lockdown again? Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has now given a clear and strong answer: No lockdown will be imposed.
The clarification came after chaos was seen across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, where long queues formed at petrol pumps and LPG centres due to fear-driven panic buying.
CM’s Big Warning on Rumours
Fadnavis issued a strict warning against fake news, saying anyone spreading lockdown rumours will face serious consequences.
“People who spread such rumours will be dealt with severely. Posting on social media or even forwarding such messages on WhatsApp will be treated as a crime,” he said.
Why Panic Spread Across Maharashtra
The panic started after fake messages and videos went viral claiming a strict lockdown was about to be announced. This led to a sudden rush at fuel stations in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad.
In one incident, a युवक in Mumbra was detained for circulating a fake video that triggered fear among residents.
Centre Also Confirms: No Lockdown
Backing the state government, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also dismissed the rumours.
He clearly stated that there is no proposal for lockdown anywhere in India and urged citizens to remain calm and responsible.
Government Assures Fuel Supply
Fadnavis reassured people that India has sufficient stock of petrol and diesel, and there is no need to panic.
“I request people not to rush to petrol pumps. The country has enough fuel,” he said.
