Ahead of the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee has unveiled the Trinamool Congress (TMC) manifesto, announcing 10 major “Protigya” (promises) aimed at securing a fourth consecutive term in power.
Launching the manifesto on Friday, Banerjee positioned it as a “people-first roadmap” and a strong response to what she described as increasing interference by the Centre. She did not hold back in attacking the BJP, claiming there were repeated attempts to destabilize Bengal.
“In every election, we have witnessed various conspiracies since the time the BJP came to power, but this time the conspiracy has crossed all limits. It seems they want to capture Bengal by any means and take control of the state,” Banerjee said.
She added, “These 10 ‘Protigya’ will form the foundation of my governance and serve as the roadmap for the next five years.”
Big Welfare Boost For Women
One of the biggest highlights of the manifesto is the expansion of the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. The TMC has promised to increase financial aid by ₹500.
Under the revised plan:
- General category women will receive ₹1,500 per month
- SC/ST women will receive ₹1,700 per month
This move is expected to directly impact millions of women voters across the state.
Focus On Jobs And Youth Support
The party has also promised to continue its support for unemployed youth through the Banglar Yuba-Sathi scheme.
Under this:
- Eligible youth will continue to receive ₹1,500 per month as unemployment assistance
This is aimed at addressing rising concerns over job opportunities in the state.
Massive Push For Farmers
The manifesto outlines a massive ₹30,000 crore agriculture budget. The focus will not only be on land-owning farmers but also on landless agricultural workers.
The aim is to strengthen rural income and boost the agricultural economy of Bengal.
Housing And Basic Facilities For All
TMC has also made big promises on infrastructure and basic amenities:
- Every family will be provided a pucca house
- Every household will get access to piped drinking water
These commitments are being projected as part of the government’s long-term development vision.
Election Dates Announced
The West Bengal Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases:
- April 23
- April 29
The counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on May 4.
With sharp political attacks, strong welfare promises, and a clear focus on social schemes, Banerjee’s manifesto sets the stage for a fierce electoral battle in Bengal.
